The U.S. Government will give 55,000 Diversity Immigrant Visas and Permanent Resident Green Cards to new immigrants this year through the U.S. Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery Program.

The Diversity Visa Lottery (also known as the Green Card Lottery) is a U.S. immigration program that seeks to diversify the population of the United States and uses a lottery system to randomly select "winners" who may then continue the consular process to receive a Diversity Visa and Green Card.

U.S. Permanent Resident Green Card holders are permitted to live, study and work in the USA for an unlimited length of time and can enjoy other benefits.
